Prince William Set to Attend UN Climate Conference in Brazil

The Prince of Wales will represent the COP30 climate summit in South America during November, as confirmed by palace sources.

The father and son duo made a joint appearance on Thursday night at a reception ahead of the climate summit, which is scheduled to take place in the Amazonian city of Belem.

Father and son were present at the Natural History Museum reception, marking an unusual joint appearance at a pre-COP30 gathering organized in partnership with the UK government.

Climate Leadership Dedication

The King has been a consistent supporter of biodiversity preservation - and the Prince of Wales has inherited the mission, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be hosted in Rio before the UN meeting.

Royal sources have described the Prince's participation at the next COP as taking on an significant responsibility in "climate diplomacy".

Recent Engagements

The monarch and his heir, making a joint entrance in the royal vehicle, were greeted attendees such as environmentalists, scientists, climate change campaigners, diplomats and government officials.

This participation featured addresses together with President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic and other global statesmen at the Marine Economy Conference in Monaco earlier this year.

Environmental Prize Link

The COP30 summit will coincide with the the royal's climate innovation prizes, which will wrap up in the Brazilian city the eve of he joins the COP summit on the sixth of November.

King Charles has been a influential participant at past COP meetings, delivering the inaugural speech in the United Arab Emirates for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the reminder: "The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth".

"For decades I've committed a significant amount of my life trying to warn of the survival risks facing us over global warming, global temperature increases and ecological decline," the King told attendees.
